Southfield Fisheries is situated between Rainton and Dishforth villages on the Rainton side of the Dishforth Interchange.

From the South: you should leave the A1 at Boroughbridge and head North on the local road towards Dishforth (A168).

About us

We have two ponds. Both ponds are spring fed, about an acre in size, and otter fenced. Pond "A" is triangular in section, Pond "B" is oblong. Both ponds are landscaped with trees on the South and West sides. A car park with a toilet suitable for able and disabled fisheermen is situated between the two fishing lakes.

Carp up to 10lbs
Roach, Rudd, Bream
Tench, Perch, Ide
Crucian, Carp and Chubb

Pond B

Carp up to 22lbs
Tench, Crucian, Carp and Roach


Adults £8 (£10 from 1st May 2019)
Concessions and Juniors £6 (£8 from 1st May 2019)

Juniors are under 14, and must be accompanies by an adult.

Pond "B"

Pond "B" is situated beside the road before you get to Pond "A". In it there is a range of carp from 6lbs to 22lbs, as well as some Tench, Crucian, Carp and Roach. A minimum 12lb line is recommended, as is an unhooking mat. The pond is spring fed and landscaped. It has 19 pegs around it. Parking is provided between the ponds, and Disabled Parking near some of the pegs. Three bins are supplied for all waste and rubbish, and fishermen are requested to use them.


  • Day tickets are only valid on the day of issue and are specifically for the named person. Our day tickets must be retained whilst at Southfield Fisheries.
  • No night fishing
  • Juniors below 14 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Only barbless hooks are allowed.
  • No fish are to be removed from the site.
  • Anglers must be in possession of an assembles landing net at all times. Carp mats are necessary for fish over 8lb. Keep nets are only permitted in matches.
  • Groundbait in feeders only.
  • All litter to be put in the bins provided and no fires are allowed.
  • Fishing only from designated platforms
  • In order to prevent the introduction of disease fishermen are requested to diinfect their landing nets and mats in the tanks provided by lake "A".
  • The gate to the fishery should be kept closed at all times in order to keep otters from entering the fishery and taking the fish.
  • All carp fishermen should have and use an unhooking mat.
